Q: How close are you to…?
A: We’re IN AmishCountry! However, when most people ask this question, they really want to know how far we are from the Amish attractions, shopping, tours, etc.

Q: Do you have WiFi?
A: Yes! And, of course, it’s free.
Q: What restaurants do you recommend?
A: Some of our favorite restaurants- for fine dining – Amorette, John J. Jefferies, Checkers, Carr’s, The Pressroom , and The Greenfield Restaurant.
For Amish/PA Dutch, we like Katie’s Kitchen and Dienner’s.
Finally, for casual dining, we enjoy Lancaster Brewing Company, The Brasserie, Annie Bailey’s Irish Public House, or The Federal Taphouse.
Q: Can you recommend any tours or local experiences?
A: Most definitely! Strasburg Scooters is just a few minutes away. If you book with them, make sure you tell them you’re staying with us, since they have a special discount for our guests.
Also, check out LoKal Experiences! This is a relatively new venture and is getting rave reviews.
Q: Is there off street parking?
A: Yes. We have plenty of free parking for our all of our guests in the lot behind the carriage house.
Q: Is breakfast included?
A: Yes. We serve everyone together in the dining room at 9am. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions that you feel we should know about.Earlier breakfasts can be arranged for those on a tight schedule.
Q: Are children allowed?
A: We love kids. In fact, we have one. We have learned, however, that most of our guests are coming to get away from the kids, if only for a night or two. We welcome children 8 and over (subject to room availability), but they and their parents must be on their best behavior.
Q: Are tips expected?
A: No. But they are appreciated, especially because they’re unexpected!
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash is king, but we also accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. We also participate in gift certificate programs administered by PA Inns.
Q: What time is…?
A: Like you, we lead pretty busy lives. And, as tempting as it is, we just can’t sit and read a book all afternoon while we wait for our guests to arrive. So, we ask in advance what time we should expect you. Ideally, it’s sometime between 3pm and 8pm, but we’re glad to make other arrangements with you as necessary. A word about early check-ins: If you have requested an early check in, please make every effort to keep to the time agreed to. Early check-ins require extra effort.
A: We know you’d like to stay forever, but we have to have adequate time to prepare for the next guests. Unless you’ve made previous arrangements, we ask that you plan your check-out for approximately 10am. If you need a few extra minutes, we’re happy to oblige, but staying till noon is usually frowned upon.
A: Ah! This is perhaps the most important question! No one wants to miss breakfast; it’s the most important meal of the day (and half of our name). We serve a plated breakfast to everyone in our dining room at 9am. Coffee is ready by 8.
Q: Is smoking permitted?
A: NOT in the house, please. If you’re smoking in the house, we will assume that you are on fire and take appropriate action. Fees for additional cleaning and loss of revenue may apply for smoking in the guest rooms. You may smoke outside, on the porch or on the patio. Smokers’ pots and ashtrays are provided. Please use them.
Q: What’s with the name?
A: We are not from Australia. Would love to visit there sometime. Our house was built in 1925 by a Mennonite cabinet-maker and was a private home until it was sold to Aussies Richard & Margaret Mason in 1986. They moved here to Lancaster to open a B&B. They bought the house, renovated it and named it the Australian Walkabout Inn. The 2nd innkeepers bought the inn from the Masons in 2001 and changed the name slightly to the “Walkabout Inn”. We then purchased the inn from them in 2007 and brought back the word “Australian” into the name and continue to offer 5 suites.
